6. Reflection: There is a growing frustration with the actions of our political leaders. They continually exploit people’s faith and fear to enact and justify questionable actions such as warrantless wire-tapping and the suspension of the habeas corpus. Equally troubling is the growing rift between folks with different ideologies in our country. When did people become so polarized, hateful and incapable of communicating? Not wanting to exacerbate this problem, the Project Jonah series explores perceptions rather than focus on pointing fingers. To keep the project personal, the materials are all the result of consumption (and duct tape to bond them). The resulting sculptures are about being a part of and living in an imperfect world instead of judging it.
